Meet Pablo on his Early College Journey

Meet Pablo Winn, a senior at Concord High School. Pablo follows a unique academic path supported by Transition Teacher Amanda Black-Ingersoll. Embracing hands-on learning, he chose to pursue a degree in Electrical Technologies over traditional college. This innovative route allows him to earn high school credits while working towards an associate degree.

Hi, my name is Amanda Black Ingersoll. I'm a transition teacher at Concord High School. I'm here to talk to you today about the importance of the Early College Program at CCSNH. After students have been able to look through the pamphlet that has a ton of useful information with guidance from me, the transition teacher or their guidance counselor, they're able to take those ideas and be connected with the dual enrollment coordinators at the community colleges. This is where it all starts. We begin looking at classes that are needed in order to get the student on track to earn an associate's degree eventually, if that's what they choose to do, or simply earn some credits, that give them some college experience. Once students have their career options that they would like to explore, the guidance counselor or transition teacher simply connects them with the dual enrollment counselor over at the community college level. If you're a parent, and you want to see your student experienced College, and be able to develop that college readiness skills they need to be successful, contact your school's guidance counselor to get connected with early college. Everything's fresh on my mind from high school. And it's nice because some of the credits go towards my high school diploma. So now I can graduate while doing these classes. So that makes it easier to do all this. I have this year and then one more, and I'll get my associate's degree in Electrical. And then I have two more years until I can go for my journeyman's license. It's been really cool meeting new people around and stuff like that. Talking to people and like learning the stuff that I'm actually going to like use in my career. I want to get my journeyman's license couple of years after and then I want to go from their masters eventually and then I want to try to open up my own business but we'll see what happens. I'm getting better with communicating it makes it easier like in high school I mean there's a little bit of a blockage and stuff like it's better to see like the real world type of situation so yeah, that's that's probably the best firepart. I'm Amanda black Ingersoll, and you should choose community
